This page is knowledge and information that I would like to share to anyone that finds it useful.
Anonymity projects I recommend:
- Tor — This is a free, open source, encrypted proxy chaining service helping you keep anonymous online.
- I2P — Similar to tor, this uses garlic routing (similar to tor's onion routing) which helps protect anonymity.
- Tails — A full USB bootable OS that uses tor system-wide.
- Monero — A privacy-focused cryptocurrency.
- Mullvad vpn — In my opinion, the best VPN because you can use it very anonymously with crypto and a random account code.
I use Ubuntu(A linux-based OS), here's why:
Linux is open-source, free, and private -> unlike Microsoft's Windows, which:
is closed-source, paid, and steals your sensitive data.
A linux distribution such as Ubuntu is also almost DEFINITELY faster, and less resource-intensive than Windows. When I still used Windows, it used up(along with all my files) 240/256GiB of my storage, frequently 60-80% of my 8GiB RAM, and crashed regularly. In Ubuntu, it is very rare that I experience a crash, and if so, instead of my whole screen freezing up forever, it just loggs me out(usually because the desktop environment crashed, not even the full OS). Unless you're a gamer or someone that needs special app compatibility, I really strongly recommmend a linux distro as a main OS to anyone, with either KDE plasma or GNOME. My favourite distros are listed below:
